Need Help with updating my iphone 3gs
Im selling my 3gs to my pops and I wanna reinstall the firmware so its brand new. ATM it is unlocked and jailbroken with a old bootrom firmware is 4.0.1 with a baseband 5.13.04. I just need to know how to go about this. I will be doing it on a mac. I don't want to update it to 5.0 just something like 4.3.3 or something. Any help is appreciated.

Open cydia and check if it says you have shsh's for 4.3.3 listed. If you pressed yes to make my life easier the first time you ran cydia, then it should be there.

So does it say you have 4.3.3 SHSHs then?

Create a custom 4.3.3 fw with Sn0wbreeze. When creating it, If you don't have an official SIM to activate with, go to Expert mode>General>checkmark box to activate. If you do, make sure that box is unchecked.
Build cFW, when it's done, follow the given timer to set phone into pwned DFU mode in Sn0wbreeze.
Open TU, click Save SHSHs (if you haven't already) and click "Start TSS Server." Open iTunes (if it was open before, close it and then open it).
Shift+restore to cFW. Don't mistakenly use your stock 4.3.3 fw that you used to create the cFW.

I did all this and it seemed to have been finished as it said it was restoring all the setting or whatever but then it just said that itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode and it needs to be restored......

Are you sure you used a custom firmware. It sounds like you're stuck in a recovery loop which typically only happens when you use a stock firmware...
