Iphone 3GS New Bootroom Jailbreak/Unlock on iOS5?

Hello all,

I was hoping to make the transition to ios5. As the topic title says, I am currently running a 3GS on 4.3.3 (8J2) with firmware 06.15.00 and NEW bootrom. Is it possible to have an untethered jailbreak with an unlock? If so, how would I go about doing it? I know as of a month or so ago it wasn't possible... thanks a ton!

With the new boot it will be tethered on iOS 5. You can only upgrade to 5.0.1 and unlock doesn't work on it unless you do some manual SSH work on the device. So technically yes you can unlock it on 5.0.1 with a preserved bb or the iPad bb, but the jb will be tethered and some SSH work has to be done to force the unlock to work.

iAnnie...what ssh work can be done? Is there a step by step/requirements doc for that somewhere?...this is the first mention of unlock working on 5..

Unlocking 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 and BB 6.15.00

There is a post by Sambran007. He seems to know quite a bit about it so feel free to speak with him if you get confused with his instructions. This work can only be done after you've upgraded to 5.0.1 via custom fw.

Remember, the jb is tethered.
