    Default 4.21 to IOS 5?

I have an iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 with bb 3.10.01 how easy is it to upgrade to IOS 5 and is it worth it yet?

I ask cos I got my daughter an iPhone 4 that came on IOS 5 and it looks quite nice with the pop up notifications etc. plus the messenging app, but I don't want to mess up my current BB or jailbreak. I don't mind it being tethered and have had iPhones since version 1 so not too bad at understanding it all, but I'm a bit lost on wether it's safe to do so yet.
I have a mac and presume I use redsnow 9.9b8 to make custom 5.01 ?

appreciate any advice I'm lost with all my google searches now..

PS oh I have saved my ssh's with Tiny Umbrella..

I put this in Redsnow but really should have been here

Are you needing to keep the phone unlocked? If not then upgrading to iOS 5 is fine, you'll just be stuck with 5.0.1. You'd also have to be okay with a semi-tethered jailbreak.

Edit: If you need to unlock the phone for use with another carrier, there's no way you can upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 and be able to unlock, even with a preserved baseband.

thanks for the reply Annie, the phone is unlocked at the moment and I just took on a new sim only deal with tesco and as far as I know they don't lock the iPhone, but thats fine I'll stay on this deal for a few years I'm sure, as it seems very good. So not really bothered if it is locked.
Will 5.01 lock the phone to my existing provider then?

Yes if you upgrade to 5.0.1, the phone will only work with the carrier it is originally locked to. Also keep in mind that the jailbreak is semi-tethered on 5.0.1. It isn't too much of an inconvenience, but some people don't like it.

Think I'll wait a while longer till it's bit more sorted then..Looks like Apple is winning this one def not as easy as it used to be, still it only takes one little breakthrough, I'll keep an eye on JB news over the next few months.
