    Default Jailbreak 3gs on ios5?

Hey guys, I know you must be getting fed up with these threads, but I can't find the exact answer I'm looking for. I have an iphone 3gs running 4.0.1 and it is jailbroken. I would like to update to ios5 because it admittedly looks pretty good, and I want to try siri0us too. Now what I'm trying to find out is if there is an unthethered jailbreak for any of the ios5 versions. If so, how can I only update to say 5.0.1 rather than 5.0.2? Thanks in advance!

If you have an old boot rom yes it can be untethered. Ya need to download idetector and follow instructions and it will tell you old or new boot rom and we will go from there

nope man it's still not working. Even itunes says it's in recovery mode, but the idetector says it's not...

Edit: i did it manually and when I look in the usb driver info all it says is usb/something... no numbers like 359.2 or whatever

Looking at the serial number can tell you if you have a new or old bootrom

What are the first 5 digits of your serial

Ok and once I do that, since I have the old bootrom, it'll be untethered meaning I can reboot whenever?

FYI for people that are wondering how you can tell old/new bootrom from first 5 digits of serial number... The iPhone 3GS made before week 40 of 2009 are old bootroms, the 3rd digit of the serial # is the year, and the 4th and 5th digits are the week of that year. Thus in serial number that begins with 84932, we know it was made in week 32 of 2009, making it the old bootrom

Just thought I'd share that with people wondering how to figure old/new bootroms by the serial
