Cant Jailbreak/Downgrade/unluck my Iphone 3gs

Hi Guys,

I have a problem I have not been able to fix which is the following:

A friend gave me his iPhone 3GS which it wasnt jailbroken or anything it was a regular At&t phone it has a sim card in it from that carrier, but is no longer in use since he has another sim card. My problem is that It asked to do a restore in order to get it out of recovery mode because my friend deleted everything on the phone so I did and it was working, but then it ran out of battery and when I wanted to turn it on again it show up recovery mode again. So i did the restore and I haven been able to get it out of there.

So can you please let me know how can I get it out so I can be able to jailbreak it and unlock it. Obviously it doesnt have any SHSH on cydia, I get error 3194 currently so I do not know what to do if you can let me know it would be helpful please, in a detail manner. I dont know which iOS, baseband does it have so please help me.

Create a custom firmware of 4.1 from Snowbreeze 2.1, use Expert mode : unchecked activate iphone. You can let your ATNT sim to activate
Use Ireb, Redsn0w or any tools to put iphone into pwned dfu mode.
Run itunes and restore to custom fw of 4.1

Firstly, tahnks for the quick response can you actually give me a tutorial/guide to do so if not can you explaint a little more in detail, how to do the custome firmware cuz i downloaded the ipsw 4.1 but wont work. Would be helpful if you can explain me more in detail, like what do download etc. Sorry to ask such questions not to a beginenr on this but still i want to do something right cuz nothing have worked.

I am sorry I forgot to specify such thing, I am on a Windows, with win 7.

You can google search for custom firmware of 4.1 if you don't know how to create it.

Once you have restored, go to settings general, about and look for the modem firmware and tell me what you have.

OK I was able to do such thing my iphone is now restored. Now I would like to know if i am able to unlock it and jailbrake it. The version is 4.1 and firmware is 6.15.00 is this possible? I need to jailbrake it but mainly unlock since i want to use it with a Mexican carrier or any US carrier.

** Addition i see that it has cydia installed since i have the icon... jsut to let you know more details. Until now thanks a lot for your help!!!

Go to cydia and install Ultrasnow , reboot and you are unlocked

DOnt know what happend but it worked now im downloading the ultrasnow... this mean is already jailbroken? if it is how can i save my shsh or that kind of precaution incase it gets updated by accident or something.. you know why people say is important to have them

You cannot restore to 5.0.1 as this is a stock firmware and you have the ipad Baseband. You will end up in recovery mode.
Do a reboot again .

btw , looking for a wifi is better than no wifi

Ok, just one more question if i have cydia does it mean is already jailbroken? and i already installed ultrasnow an rebooted my iphone that means i can get the at&t sim card and insert the one from my country?

You are already jailbroken and unlocked. Are you able to search wifi after reboot.

Yes i was. I have done you suggested already. One more question, can I save the shsh just in case or if something happends should i perform these same tasks? (which wont happend).

Yes, you can save the blob now. You have to do the same thing again if a restore is needed.

I inserted my sim card and it has been 10 min and no signal, should i reboot the phone then check it again or is something wrong with the unlock. It turned to no service jsut now

Do you have atnt sim card with you.

Yes i do have an at&t sim card with me but is not activated since it was my friends and he no longer use that one. I have a sim card from Mexico which is the one i want to use. and that is why i want to unlock it is already in the phone but it just stays on searching... So i might think is not unlocked or something?

If it says searching, it is already unlocked. Run redsnow and choose deactivate option , use your atnt sim activate it.

Ok so i use the redsnow 9.6b6 and then i just choos deavtivate and follow isntructions? but which ipsw do i use? which do i browse?
