    Default iPod Touch 3g/iPhone help!

    Hi there

I have an old iPod Touch 3g 64 GB that I have that thinks is an iPhone. The unit was given to me as broken and I have been trying to fix it. When I plug the device in the usb port iTunes tells me that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode. I have tried to restore with any firmware related to the iPod Touch 3g but with no success. When plugged in, with USBView I see this:

    iPod Touch 3g help!-ipod-touch-3g-dfu-mode.jpg.

What does it all mean? Why 2 different iProduct and which one is the correct one? How to remove the iPhone ID. Is it possible or is it a lost cause?
I have also followed this thread:

Emergency SSH access using a pwn'd DFU mode RamDisk

... and it has been working only using 3.1.2 firmware using the standard 3.1.2 firmware. This is the result of the files upload.

    tetheredboot -i iBSS.n18ap.RELEASE.dfu -k kernelcache.release.s5l8922x -r 018-6155-014.dmg.ssh

The only problem is that I can't create a custom firmware in order to use the SSH option. I have downloaded sn0breeze for 3.1.2 , but when I try to load the 3.1.2 ipsw file , it tells me that it is not the correct one. Any other idea how to create it? When I load the files using the instructions listed in the above link, I get this:

    iPod Touch 3g help!-ipod-touch-3g-ssh.jpg.

Once again? What does it mean?If I unplug the idevice and plug it back in, I get the first image again.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sorry , but some of the .jpg links are here

    Thank you
