On 4.3.5 can I restore to 5.0 with 5.1 already out?

Just went to apple store cause my iPhone 4 on 5.0 dropped in my coffee and was screwed. They sold me another iPhone 4 for cheap but it's on 4.3.5. Now that apple has dropped 5.1, can I still resort to 5.0. I tried real quick before work but I keep getting error 3194. Any HTML would be greatly appreciated!!

You have to restore to 5.0.1 since apple stopped signing 5.0.

Damn that sucks. Can I still use big boss semi-tether on 5.1?

Yes you can but wouldn't recommend it.

Why is that? With being on 4.3.5 I pretty much should hold off right, since there's no untethered for that either?

I have seen cases where once you install semi tethered you can't use tether boot and you need a restore again. I personally haven't use it but you can try.

Appreciate the help iYeow, noticed in other forums people would get rude with others. Thanks for the help, I'll give it a try to install semi-tethered in 5.1. I had semi tethered on 5.0 with no problems. Fingers crossed all goes well haha!!

iYeow quick question. If I jailbreak tethered on 4.3.5 you thing semi-tether would work or is semi-tethered iOS 5 specific?

It may be just the earlier version that causes problem, the latest version is 9.1 may have bugs fixed.

was in the same boat...spent 2 hours try to fix that error code 3194 and messing with Tinyumbrella. Eventually, I found out my only option was to upgrade to 5.0.1. It's tethered...but seems to be working fine.

Dont use semi tethered 0.9.1, it throws you into infinite loop if you reboot and have to restore. Lost my 5.0 this way.

iChakad - did you use Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 or Sn0wbreeze v2.8b11? I tried redsnow pointed It to iPod 5.0, it jail broke fine but when I went to boot tethered it said ISPW not supported. I understand that a lot have been having trouble cause they are trying to point it to ios 5.0.1 but I'm not. Any help or a way you got it jailbroke and tethered. Thanks!
