Default 3GS stuck in restore mode

I bought a 3GS that was unlocked and JB. It worked fine for a few months and then the unlock no longer worked. I let it sit as I had my iphnone 4 with the gevey sim working. I just turned it back on and the battery was basically dead. I let it charge and then unplugged it. I noticied that all of the apps were just white squares with the app name below. I restarted the iphone and now I am stuck in the restore (pic of the usb plug and itunes) mode.

I tried resetting with tiny umbrella, but it just goes back to the restore mode. I have no idea what bb the phone is on.

1st, is there a program that would let me look at the iphone and determine the BB without restoring?

2nd, if I do a restore will I be able to JB and Unlock? ( I would guess that the answer would depend on the BB)

(I tried to do a search of this forum but I kept getting error messages and non of my searchs worked)

Try iforecast to see if you see it or restore to 4.1 if you don't have any blob.

If you have tiny umbrella installed, go to adv tab and uncheck set hosts file to cydia and close it.
Create a custom firmware of 4.1 from either Snowbreeze 2.1 or Pwnage tools 4.1.3
Use Ireb or Redsn0w 0.9.6 to pwned your iphone into pwned dfu mode.
Run itunes : shift + restore to custom firmware of 4.1

What firmware are you restoring to ? Are you using stock firmware ?

If restoring to stock fw, error 1015 will pop up . Use Exit recovery from Tiny Umbrella to kick it out.

I finally got it to work after 3 or 4 tries, but now have a no wifi issue. I am on 4.1/6.15 and can not connect with wifi. I show the wifi indicator at the tope of the screeen, but no connection. I tried rebooting and also resetting network settings but nothing will connect with wifi.

It "sees" all of the available wifi connections, and it appears to log into those connections, but I can get no data.
