iOS 5 untethered jailbreak estimation?

To my knowledge there is not an untethered jailbreak available for iOS 5 yet.. does anyone know an approximate time there will be one? I'm probably getting the iPhone 4 soon (Christmas), so if there is one by then, that'd be great. Anyone know? Thanks

No one knows but make sure you get one that has 5.0 not 5.0.1 firmware

I just saw a link from youtube stating there is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 using greenpois0n RC9.

Can anyone confirm if this is a fake? I'm pretty sure it is since it hasnt made headlines on here yet.

Yes it's a fake. It would be all over the news section when it comes out.

I'm of the opinion an untethered JB for anything past 4.3.3 is unlikely to ever happen, certainly not in the foreseeable future.

I would try for a 4 that's on 4.3.3.

I am in the same boat as you, i messed up my Iphone 4 at IOS 5.0. Now back to 4.3.3 , Thank God I have the blob

Can you imagine, from IOS 5 onwards, you can easily lose your jailbreak and unlock too if you don't have 4.xx blobs saved.

They said the day before IOS5 came out there is an unteathered jailbreak ready but it never showed up.
I'm wondering what they are waiting for now? Are they waiting for the next IOS5.* release? There will always be a next IOS release to fix the bugs in the previous version so if they are waiting there will never be a unteathered released.

How about just release it for the current IOS and the devices its available for now and work on the next unteathered and jailbreak for the 4S and ipad2 later.

My iPhone 4 is staying on 4.3.3 until there is a good stable IOS 5 or even 6 as IOS5 is crap but the iPad is already in iOS5.0.1 and as it cant go back to IOS5 I guess its stuck on that or 4.3.3 as I got he blobs saved for that.
I should downgrade the iPad as 4.3.3 is the best IOS atm. better and more stable then IOS5 at just about everything and its the last with the unteathered jailbreak. And as we all know an iDevice without a jailbreak is just a showroom model and not a iDevice you want to own.

Although I never read any definites on it's existence, they dropped many large hints to the effect, and it's this that had caused me to lose all respect in the Dev team.
