does 5.0.1 over the air updates firmware?

I'm using iPhone 4 with gevey sim on iOS5 and 04.10.01 firmware.....So I'm wondering can i do over the air update to iOS 5.0.1 and still preserve 04.10.01 firmware so gevey sim can still work?

Update over the air will install stock fw which updates your bb and render ur gevey sim useless.

hey illusion, did the custom firmware work for you when you updated from 5.0 to 5.0.1... i have the exact same scenario, i have ios 5.0 with gevey using baseband 4.10.01... but when i try to install it, it always fails and my phone is now stuck in either recovery or dfu mode... so i can't use it at allllllll. did you get your to work. everytime i try to use my custom firmware (build with sn0wbreeze v2.8b11) it goes all the way to the end then gives me the 3194 error. google says it means that the device does not support or work or is invalid sooo i'm not sure what to do... any suggestions...
