It was about 15 minutes ago. I'm sure it will be atleast a week till apple stops signing it.

Apples servers have to digitally sign the firmware versions for them to be able to be installed on your iDevice.
You cannot simulate this as of right now with iOS 5+. So apple has to be "signing" the fw for it to be installed.

So what if they stop signing?
Sorry @.@ (feels stupid)

If they stop signing 5.0 then you would only be able to restore to 5.0.1. Again this is for ios5+. If you still have shsh blobs saved for ios4 you could still downgrade that way

I think it's closed now.
Last night between midnight and 04:00 (CET / +0100) I managed to put the 5.0 FW (custom version preserving my baseband) on my iPhone 3GS. Jailbreak and installing some JB apps went fine. Restoring the backup of contacts etc. went ok but when iTunes started to put the apps back on it my experience changed. Springboard keeps crashing when I see the springboard tons of apps have as status 'Waiting' and most of the apps are not installed. Left it on over night in the hope that it would still get installed but no luck so far.
Tried to put the same 5.0 FW back on half an hour ago but iTunes now gives an error, I'm guessing the 5.0 signing window is closed.

DAMNIT! I thought so too.
I managed to updated 4.3.3 to 5.0
then I could activate cause I'm on T-Mobile, I downgraded... Later I found an ATT sim card and tried to update to 5.0
only lets me 5.0.1
should have saved blobs DAMN!

Yup Looks like it's not updating. Im waiting for an untethered Jailbreak (If that ever happens) so I'm not that concerned.

iOS 5.0? Meh.
I upgraded to 5.0 the other day, had it for about 3/4 of the next day before I got fed up with it (not having my tweaks and apps via jailbreak). I'm back down to 4.3.3 but I now have an updated baseband (on original carrier, so it doesn't matter). Personally I would recommend sitting on 4.x.x until more tweaks are available on 5.x.x firmware (as well as an untethered jailbreak option).

so its closed now?
i was trying to update my ipad 2 this morning before work and i got error 3194 which usually means you have itunes directed to cydia's servers which i dont.
i didnt have too much time so i didnt mess with it any more, could just be a usual pain in the *** of restoring tho

Staying on iOS 4.3.3 untethered for now, sure.
The problem is, if Apple's no longer signing 5.0 -- and we have no way to simulate the signing ourselves -- then all we'll be able to restore/upgrade to is 5.0.1, the firmware in which the big exploit(s) that were discovered in 5.0 (that would have led to a quicker untethered jailbreak) have already been closed!
I'm wondering if we'll be able to upgrade from 4.3.3 untethered JB to 5.0 untethered JB (if/when it comes out.) We might actually have missed that window, and be forced to go to 5.0.1. And 5.0.1 will take a lot longer for a untethered JB to emerge.
I do note though the final SHSH blob TinyUmbrella saved for me was for 5.0 GM -- so maybe that'll be helpful in some way.
