Do I Need to Upgrade from iOS 4.3.3untethered to 5.0 Before 5.1 is Released?

I've been waiting patiently for a new untethered jailbreak to appear. So I am currently still running iOS4.3.3 untethered redsnow0.9.6 jailbreak.

If iOS5.1 is released before a iOS5.0 untethered-jailbreak is found, will I still be able to upgrade my phone to iOS5.0 instead of iOS5.1?
I think apple has to "sign" the software or something? So if I miss the window of opportunity for iOS5.0, will I be forced to upgrade to iOS5.1? What should I do?

I'm asking because it looks like they are close to finding an untethered-jailbreak for iOS5.0 but that it will still be awhile until its released.

Kind of a hard decision ya at a untethered jailbreak now. If ya wait longer and they release 5.1 and you still have 4.3.3 you will have to go to 5.1 might be better to just upgrade now to 5.0 and cross fingers untethered isnt to far behind.

okie, I went ahead and upgraded to iOS5 and its jailbroken again but now tethered. Tethered is so annoying but hopefully untethered will be out soon.

What about for iPad 2 or iPhone 4s. Should we upgrade now or will the untethered JB be for a4 chipset only?

I would say, as a rule of thumb. If you are currently jailbroken and have no issue with your jailbreak, stay at where you are until the jailbreak is released.
If you are stucked now, might as well update to ios 5 and wait

I'm on 4.3.3. I was waiting for the battery problem to be fixed before I upgraded to 5, but with the release of 5.0.1 today and shsh blobs not available for 5 yet I'm not sure how long apple is going to sign 5. Few of the guys working on jb said don't upgrade to 5.0.1 if u want an untethered jb. So I guess I'm gonna upgrade to 5 and deal with the battery issues and a tethered jb until any other news comes out.

I was wondering about the same thing. I'm at 4.3.3 untethered and have no need to upgrade except experience the new iOS and I wanna make sure I get the next untethered update also. I might bite my tongue and go for 5.0.

man am I lucky for updating it to 5.0 this morning. I had no idea they would release 5.1 today. I thought about waiting to do it later today, but decided to go ahead and do it this morning because I was afraid apple would release 5.1 soon (but certainly not today!)

I hope you are not bleeding
