Default Can't Save SHSH Blog for iPhone 4

I have an iphone 4 on v4.3.5. I am planning to updating to iOS 5, but before I do so, I want to save the SHSH blobs using Tiny Umbrella. I used Tiny Umbrella, but it is not saving the SHSH blobs...

try iFaith instead. then compile the custom IPSW using the SHSH.
also make a custom IPSW from the stock iOS 5 to preserve BB

So if I update to the iOS 5, there will be no way to downgrade to iOS 4.3.5?

If you don't have 4.3.5 shsh blob saved, then you won't be able to downgrade.
If you are still at 4.3.5 and iphone is still bootable, you can run ifaith and dump your 4.3.5 shsh blob to be used for future downgrade.

I am currently running v4.3.5. iFaith didn't work. It said it couldn't couldn't recognize the firmware i am on. So I used redsn0w and i think it found my shsh blogs. It created a file, "0000000000-iPhone3,1_4.3.5_8L1" where 0000000 is my ECID. Is this my saved shsh blog for v4.3.5?

Yes, you have 4.3.5 blob, is it shown under general tab in TU ?
If this is ifaith blob, then it is not as ifaith has not started to dump shsh yet. Did you point to 4.3.5 and use the latest version of ifaith.

I copy and pasted the "0000000000-iPhone3,1_4.3.5_8L1" (from redsnow) file to "\.shsh" directory. I open Tiny Umbrella, but it doesn't find that saved shsh.

I have iFath v1.3.2 (latest according to main site). According to main wbesite, v4.3.5 is not supported...

Is it possible to reinstall v4.3.5 if I am already on v4.3.5, through iTunes the legit way?

No, it is not possible to restore to 4.3.5 again without the blob.

So I used redsn0w to build a customer IPSW file with the shsh blog is saved for me. I tried to restore with itunes but i got error 1600. So I used iReb to fix the issue. iTunes started restoring, but mid way during restoration I got another error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)."

v4.3.5, which is the same firmware i was currently running. I used redsn0w to grab the shsh, then created a custom ipsw of the 4.3.5 which included the shsh.

I thought you said you don't have the blob and why are you restoring to 4.3.5 again.

Restoring to custom fw still requires you to put iphone into pwned dfu mode.

I am restoring 4.3.5 again to ensure if I update to ios 5, i can restore back to 4.3.5.

Since I was already running 4.3.5, i connected my iphone 4 to pc, and ran redsn0w. Redsn0w was able to grab the shsh from my device, and it created a file on my computer with the name "0000000000-iPhone3,1_4.3.5_8L1". (0000 is my ecid). Then i used the "Stitch" feature in redsn0w to create a ipsw with the shsh injected in it.

snow i am trying to restore the custom ipsw that redsn0w created but its not working.

Never mind I fixed the issue. After I got error after failure with 4.3.5 installion, I was stuck in recovery mode. I used redsn0w to kick me out of recovery, and it turns out iPhone 4 booted into v4.3.5 with clean installation. So it suceeded, I just had to kick out of the recovery mode using redsn0w.

I have another question. I have now updated to iOS 5 and saved SHSH blob using TU. Apple released 5.0.1. How do I updated to iOS 5.0.1 while preserving baseband? if I will be relying on jailbreak/unlock in the future I won't have any problems as long as I have 5.0 shsh blobs saved right?

You cannot save 5.0 shsh blob, apple restriction no more downgrading to iOS 5 except 4.xx if you have the blob.
