I am on baseband 06.15.00 and i unlocked to use the 3gs as I bought the phone when I had a contract to another carrier.
Now my contract is nearly finished i wish to upgrade to ios5 and use the carrier the phone is originally with so does anyone know if there will be any problems upgrading to ios 5 not looking to jailbreak and things at the moment as ever since i did, my gps screwed up when i want to use sat navs and stuff

On 4.2.1 and up, the device with the iPad bb can only use custom fw, meaning you can't have stock fw on it on iOS 5.

Not on iOS 5, no. On 4.1, you could.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please, but that has always been the case since 4.2.1 to 4.3.5.

You're correct, as of today no baseband downgrades possible on devices that are not the iPhone 3G with bootloader 5.8.
