People with ATT and no data plan, which firmware are you running?

Hey there.

I currently have FW 3.0 on my iPhone 3G with no data plan. I only use the internet with WIFI, and I would rather save the money then get a data plan. The issue is I think with newer firmwares ATT may add the data plan for your without your consent. My sister was running 3.0 for a year, updated her firmware to 4.0, and within a couple weeks she got a text saying a data plan has been added to her phone. I have been running 3.0 since it first came out with no issues but I would like to upgrade to 4.2 to run a couple apps for my home theater setup. Is anyone successfully using 4.2 without a data plan? What other firmwares have you been able to successfully use without a data plan?

You can always restore to 4.2.1 with ease, i think by turning off 3g, you will not be billed for data plan.

No one does this? Going to try to update to 4.2.1 and see what happens.
