Want to unlock iPhone 3g but the power button is broken.
Here is my dilemma.
-I want to unlock my iPhone 3g
-My iPhone 3g is jailbroken on 4.2.1. Base band = 05.15.04
-Ultrasn0w 1.2.4 does not support 05.15.04
-I have searched online and it is saying I have to use redsn0w to change my base band to 06.15.00. Then I can unlock with Ultrasn0w because 06.15.00 is supported.
-To use redsn0w I need the power button but it is broken.
What do?

Is the power button broken? What happens when you press the button? Can you press the button with a paper clip? If the power flex cable is broken it will need to be replaced. If you have a steady hand look up YouTube videos on replacing the power flex cable. The 3G and 3GS cables are similar so those videos will also be helpful. If it seems to hard to fix on your own, get some one who knows what they are doing to fix it.

Fix the power button! I thought about all the possible options and it all ends up in needing DFU mode.
Sorry to say...

Just found out that if I apply pressure to the right of the speaker hole and press the power button, it works!
Now does anyone know if I can open the iphone and fix this myself?

To get to the power button, you'd have to practically disassemble the entire device on the iPhone 3G to gain access. Watch a lot of YouTube videos and rate how difficult you feel that it is to accomplish.
I did it myself, to get the housing swapped, and I never usually deal with hardware things so it was the first time I ever opened a phone up myself...I rate it a difficulty level of 6.5 for myself. I did well. But I did watch lots of YouTube tutorials before trying.
