Totally screwed my phone up. I had it jailbroken on 4.1 firmware and then upgraded the baseband to the ipad 6.15.00 so that I can use another networks sim in which has been great for about 7 months.
I stupidly tried to restore in itunes and it messed it up with the 1015 error code. A few experiments with youtube videos, i now have an iphone that has 3.1.3 firmware on but is now locked in recovery mode needing activated with the original carriers sim.
Can anyone advise how to get this phone back to 4.1 and back to normal?
I must be doing something wrong because ive been trying that from the start using redsn0w 0.9.6 with the custom 4.1 fw bur wen it comes to doing the sequence, i follow instuctions, hold down the buttons as im told for the right amount of seconds but the phone just keeps turning on and staying in recovery mode. Ive spent hours repeating it with no luck

thats what ive been doings. power button in for 3 seconds, apple logo appears then keep holding ppower button and home button for 10 seconds. the phone should power off but it doesnt. i then let go of power button but keep holding home button for 15 seconds but the phone just comes on to recovery mode abd redsn0w pops up the message no device detected. my home buton definitely works cos the phone responds to it in recovery mode
apple logo should go off at approx 4 secs onthe second count. Press the Power button first before you hit next to do the 3 secs count. I need to change my keyboard, it is all buggled up. The keys are sooo annoying, too much typing..lol
i appreciate the advice pal. Would there be any reason why the phone isnt going into dfu mode? the closest ive got is the phone did go off a few times during the second stage and i did hold the buttons firmly but it came back on a second or 2 later. im ready to throw this out the window lol
OK, bit of movement now. The phone hadn't been "activated" or "hacktivated" so i managed to get a sim from the carrier that the phone allowed. activated the phone in itunes and now its running fine with that carrier using 3.1.3 firmware and the 6.15.00 baseband.
Prob is I want to use a sim from another carrier that doesn't work in the phone so I need to get the firmware back to 4.1. I have the custom file stored on my computer.
My question is, do I need to use redsn0w and try the entry sequence into dfu mode to run the update or can i do it some other way? My stumbling block is the sequence to get into dfu mode. for some reason when i follow the instructions correctly and hold the proper buttons in for the right time, the phone just powers on instead of going into dfu mode but i know the power and home buttons do work and aren't faulty.
You would need to put iphone into pwned dfu and restore to custom firmware of 4.1, don't use tss server for your restore, let apple verify your restore.
EDIT: getting the same thing now with this newer version
Ive even knocked it into recovery mode a couple of times. Sometimes it went off after 6 seconds of the second sequence and I thought that was it, but at the end, im getting the error message saying no devices found. Iphone is defo connected to pc cos its showing up in my computer

I dont think so cos its a new cable and have already tried it plugged into different usb ports. everytime the phone switches off and on, i can hear the connection tone that windows makes. think im near ready to give up and throw it out lol
