Please Help!

Hi. I have an iphone 4 i am trying to restore and rejailbreak. It was jailbroken with redsnow 4.3.3 and I have kept it that way. I have not saved any blobs, but was currently running 4.3.3. I tried to restore to my saved 4.3.3 ipsw file but Itunes wouldn't let me. I was aware they won't let you downgrade but restoring to the same firmware youre currently running? thats ridiculous. So, I put the phone into DFU mode thinking that might let me restore in itunes but now im basically stuck with a phone in DFU mode and it seems right now that my only option from here would be to upgrade to 5.0, which I really want to do anyways but not until an untethered JB is released.


Do I have any other options?

I am sincerely regretting DFU'ing since now I think I'm stuck with having to upgrade to 5.0.

Any help is sincerely appreciated as Im pretty much bricked at the moment.



PS the initial purpose of the restore was to clean up my phone which was full of 6.5 gigs of "other" data I couldn't locate.

ok well I got it out of DFU mode now, but still is there a way to completely wipe the iphone and reinstall 4.3.3(never upgraded past that before on this device) and rejailbreak?

Since you have gotten out of dfu ,it means your iphone is functional. Use ifaith to dump your 4.3.3 blob and create a custom fw of 4.3.3 to be restored too.

THanks, but stupidly in my haste I used tiny umbrella to save my shsh blobs and tried to restore to my normal 4.3.3 ipsw, didnt realize Id need a custom one built with my SHSH... is there a way to build it with the SHSH blobs i dumped from tiny umbrella? im stuck in restore mode right now thinking about trying to restore to 5.0 because I am bricked at an error code 14 and scared lol.

I got about 30%the the way through reinstalling the 4.3.3 so im sure that means it would be even dumber to try and force the phone out of restore mode(picture of usb cable pointing to itunes) as i probably have already erased any OS on the phone? at least partially?

Well im officially screwed. I just tried regular restore to the new firmware in itunes and got error code 14 again...really concerned now. any help would be great. i am stuck in recovery mode without an operating system i believe and error code 14 after any restore attempt

Try putiing into pwned dfu and restore to IOS 5 with latest itunes.

I am going to try that right now but would there be a way to have saved my SHS in tiny umbrella and make a custom 4.3.3 firmware using those signatures?

No, you can only save using ifaith if your iphone is operational or bootable. Now you are in recovery or dfu mode, nothing can be saved.

IOS 5 is twice as fast as IOS 4, you should go for this upgrade.

I know 5 is great my GF just got an iphone 4 two days ago with it on it I just love being jailbroken and was waiting for an untethered. I will let you know how this goes.

what is pwned dfu? how is it different than DFU? I am in DFU now i believe.

Pwned dfu uses Geohot bootrom exploit. It allows itunes to restore to accept custom firmware but in your case is stock firmware which is fine.
You can run redsn0w Rc17 , browse to stock 4.3.3 and select only option Pwned dfu mode ( located at the very bottom ) do your count and it shows a message when properly executed.

Alright, you can jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.9b6 or 7 both windows or mac version.
