upgrading iphone 3gs to ios5 without losing apps

Is it possible to upgrading iphone 3gs to ios5 without losing apps? My phone is currently on version 4.xx and jailbroken. 90% of my games are from **********. I was told i will lose the games if i upgrade via itunes (for which i have not connect my iphone to itunes for almost 1 year now!).

Any suggestion how i can go about doing it? Really dont want to be redownloading everything again and also losing all my messages and settings.

Don't upgrade , you will lose everything and please do not use pirated games. Using pirated apps is stealing and is not allowed in this forum.
