iphone 3g stuck in recovery.

A little background:
Unlocked 3g, jailbroken, etc.
Ran a few dreamboard themes (yes on a 3g)
One day I tried the aero theme (windows 7 theme)
Iphone has been frozen in recovery mode since.

itunes gives a 1015 error when trying to restore (gives error 10 minutes into restoring)

Tinyumbrella won't run on my computer. It literally will not open the exe file to open/install/run TU


Fix recovery does nothing. I attached a screen cap of fix recovery.




Any ideas?! I've been on forums for the last 24hrs straight.

You need to fix your Tiny umbrella ( it is probably Java you need to update )issue so you can use Exit recovery to kick out error 1015 or use another computer.

I have updated java. Any other reasons why it won't open at all?

Looks like your itunes is not properly installed. Update to latest itunes.

I have itunes 10.5. Is that the newest?

I'm not sure what else it could be, I'm quite stuck.

Go to your control panel and Programs and features : you should have apple application support, apple mobile support, bonjour, itunes and Itunes helper installed.

I have all of those in that folder. I'm assuming that means I have the newest itunes.

Try this extract itunes and install the msi individually.

I'm not really sure what that means. Itunes is an exe file before I install it..

I know itunes is an exe file, you right click it and extract it using Winrar , you should see a folder > open it up and click on the respective Msi file to reinstall again.



OR use a different computer or reinstall your operating system.

Okay I did that. Nothing changed when restoring through itunes..

I'm so lost.

Your issue now is not being able to start tiny umbrella, add the cydia ip address to your hosts file and do your restore without using TU .

Have you done all your windows update ?

Yes windows is updated. I just tried a restore on another computer and same error 1015 came up.

I'm going to try and open TU on a different user on this computer, then on the other computer..

you need exit recovery from TU to kick it out but only 4.1 or lower.

I can open tinyumbrella (on a different computer now)


But when i open it says
"Request SHSH From Cydia" is currently set
This can cause issues if you are trying to save current SHSHs as Cydia is no longer able to reliably proxy SHSH requests
Please change your setting in the 'Advanced ' tab and click the Apply Changes' button or use the 'Edit' menu to apply changes first

Then it says
Cannot Start TSS Service
Do not try and restoring your Device
CWindows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts is not writable!

Then in the program it says Tinyumbrellas Tss server is not running

Things I've tried:
1) Running as administrator.
2) Disabled Read-only of the hosts
3) Disable security/anti viruses

I noticed the host file wasnt even present in that folder, so I created one and the TSS is running. I'll keep you updated

phone is in DFU mode and "fix recovery" in Tiny umbrella doesnt work

You cannot kick out dfu mode but if you trigger it , you can power reset it.

What firmware are you restoring to ?

Fix recovery does nothing in tiny umbrella.. It just stays at black screen and never turns back on.


Should I shift + restore in itunes with a different firmware from here?

Also exit recovery shows the apple screen on my iphone for a bit, then back to recovery mode..

So I restored it in itunes using the 3.1.2 firmware.

Kicked it out of recovery with TU.

Now I'm stuck on the slide to unlock screen. And my valid sim card is in the phone...

Oh nevermind! It works!
