Question Restoring and wiping clean my iphone4 for the buyer? version4.1/baseband 02.10.04

My iphone 4 is factory unlocked and jailbreaked. Currently version 4.1(8B117) and baseband 02.10.04

I tried restoring with IPSW 4.1 but got an error message saying my phone isn't eligible for this build.

What is the best way to clean my phone as I am selling it later today or tomorrow?

    Thanks in advance.

I am getting an error message when I try and update to 5. Its backing up but then at the end says my phone isnt eligible blah blah for this build.
Restore is different than upgrade? I need to download 5? then restore ?

    Thanks

I had that problem, it told me the same thing and I just kept trying to update and eventually it worked.

I don't know, that's just what happened to me. Did you try putting it in restore mode?

I have tried everything in DFU mode and regular mode. Same error messages. I have become bewildered/confused/frustrated so as last resort I am trying to erase etc via the iphone itself. I know this will take a long time and not sure what version etc of software and firmeware it will be in if this works.

You mean the erase all contents and settings option in the phone itself? I don't don't know what else to tell you, wish I could be of more help. I'm having some frustrating issues myself that I can't figure out so I know how annoying it is.

To be able to restore to IOS 5 successfully , you need this restore be verified by apple server.
If you have TU installed, ensure set hosts file to cydia is unchecked.
Go to your Hosts file in your computer and delete lines with gs.apple.com
Reboot your computer and restore to IOS 5 through itunes.
