3GS on 4.3.3 (8J2) Firmware 06.15.00 to ios5 unlocked
Hey,
Hoping I might be able to make the transition to ios5. As the topic title says, I am currently running a 3GS on 4.3.3 (8J2) with firmware 06.15.00. Is it possible to have an UNtethered jailbreak with an unlock? If so, how would I go about doing it? Thanks a ton!

You have to restore to custom firmware of IOS 5. If you have the new bootrom, your jailbreak will be tethered jailbreak.
Update itunes, create a custom firmware and restore to it.

10-24-2011, 01:58 PM #3So I don't need to use one of the unlock programs, rather just restore? Where do I get the custom firmware? I assume after the restore, I think just get the ultrasn0w repo and I am good to go? Lastly, how do I tell if I have the new or old bootrom?

You have to go to your apple device info under device manager to see your iboot version , old boot is 359.2
