Default HELP Please 3Gs stuck in Recovery Mode

Can't get phone out of recovery do perform any actions, such as restore or even getting it recognized in iTunes. Can't get Tiny Umbrella to recognize the iphone or realize it is connect via the USB cable so unable to kick it out of recovery. Simply stuck and unable to do anything.

I have jailbroken and restored this phone over the last two years several times with no issues. This is the first time I have encountered anything like this.

I think this issue is related to program that I installed this AM which was an upgrade to the current version which been working flawlessly. Shortly after that, the phone suddenly shut down twice while reading some email before going into the recovery mode where it is not stuck. Curently on 4.2.1 with SSH blogs and backup in iTunes--I could just get to any of this.

I have attempted to use Redsnow 6 using the utilities to either kick it out of recovery mode or into DFU mode so that the phone can at least be recognized in iTunes so I can do a restore. Redsnow doesn't recognize the phone and was the jailbreak I used after doing a complete restore to stock 4.2.1 firmware. Itunes obviously wont recognize it either regardless of which combination of power and home buttons are held down or at what point the USB cable is plugged into the phone. I have tried all I know or that is available for me to try. It seems as if the iPhone DLL drivers are missing from my PC but I had the same issues before and after I upgraded iTunes to the latest version. But after upgrading iTunes I don't see how the drivers could be missing. Again, neither Redsnow, iTunes or Tiny Umbrella will find the phone.

Currently, the phone appears to be off but will not present the shut down screen with the ability to slide the power off icon to the right, but the screen is completely dark. If I plug in the USB cable it enters the recovery mode again and will stay there so I don't feel it is actually powered--but again, I have never encountered this but it appears that it's not off after all.

Again, I am simply out of things to try, I have tried all I know to do---please someone help.

    Thanks!

Try restoring to stock 4.1 firmware, don't use Tss Server, let apple verify your 4.1 restore. Use TU only to kick out error 1015.

    Iyeow,

Thanks for your only response to my delima.

It turns out that just rushing and not paying attention to what I was doing this was a self inflicted wound. I have two iPhone cables, the original one and a Dynex that I got mainly for a backup. It turns out that the Dynex DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE CONNECTIONS AND IS MAUNLY FOR CHARGING. I knew this but again was not paying attention, but was focused on the failed attempts to get out of recovery. That's why Tiny Umbrella and nothing else worked and why it appeared ther were no drivers installed-- this cheap BestBuy charging cable won't allow connections to the PC. I felt like a NUT. Everything worked once I used the original Apple supplied cable.

    Much thanks--everyone please take note.
