Quick dumb question....

Can i hook my jailbroken iP4 to itunes to restore? Is it that easy? Currently i have version 4.1 and firmware 01.59.00. I just want to fully restore my phone and possible j/b some other time...

only things i want to preserve are my pics and contacts. I was trying to preserver the baseband at first because i thought it would make my phone more valuable since i was going to sell it when the 5 came out. Well, that didnt happen and i figured there would probably be an unlock later in the future, when im ready to sell my phone. If not, it still wouldnt matter, these phones have a great resell regardless of its baseband.

It does make your phone more valuable. You'd be able to resell it for quite a pretty penny. If I were you I'd keep it, I sold my unlocked iP4 for $550. That's typically higher than what you'd get with one that can't be software unlocked.

Regardless, are you looking to restore to 4.1, or did you want to upgrade to something else? You should check for SHSHs first anyhow before trying anything. So go get TinyUmbrella from thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com, launch it, click "Save SHSHs" and see what you may have.

i guess im just being lazy. i wanted to upgrade to os5 and then hope someone would figure out how to unlock later. im sure theres a thread around here showing us how to upgrade and keep our baseband, huh

and i guess my old tinyumbrella needs to be updated?

I'm not sure if TU has been updated to preserve the bb for iOS 5. I haven't figured that one out quite yet lol.

I mean I'm not sure if there will be a new unlock. If youre willing to let that go that's not a problem either

Anyhow, the jb on iOS 5 is semi-tethered so that's something you have to think about.

Oh, that's right. Dang. Yeah, I'm not gonna be able to do that. I drain my battery just about everyday so it'll be a pain in the neck to have to go through the process everytime. Oh well. Thank you very much though
