Yeah, or you can make a cfw with sn0wbreeze. Then once done, load up the cfw created and stored on your desktop to your iPhone

Download stock 5.0 from iclarified firmware by google search, download SB from iH8sn0w.com and build it , it will be placed on your desktop.

Put iphone into pwned dfu mode and restore to cfw of 5.0. Probably after restore, it is not jailbroken yet.

The custom firmware created by redsn0w for Mac just preserve baseband and doesn't jailbreak. If snowbreeze does it , that is good. Snowbreeze may finish off with error, we will see your progress.

Yeah it will unless you have an iPhone 3GS old boot room 6.15.00
