[Please Sticky] Reason why people on 3GS's receive no Wi-Fi/IMEI/Searching error!!
Found this on google after a couple days of searching, its a good reference not sure if its legal so im not gonna post the link.. look at the 3rd,4th, and 5th number of the serial in > About
"All 3GS after 36 week (including) of 2011 are completely DEAD, when you install iPad baseband on them. 35 week 3GS with 4.3.5 OTB works WELL with iPad baseband, even after downgrading on 4.1. I have several new AT_T 3GS, so i have checked this and this is 100% confirmed. Now it is clear, that Apple changed some hardware part of 3GS after 36 week. So if you have 35 week new 3GS - don't be afraid, downgrade it to 4.1 and install iPad baseband. If it is 36 week or later - forget about ipad baseband. Wait for Devteam, mb they wiil invent something (although i doubt)."

"@jojo2010 yep, "135" and below work great with iPad baseband, "136" and later don't work. A few days ago I was stuck, because i don't know the reason of dead new 3GS with 06.15.00. Now i know definitely, but how to decide this problem? Nobody knows, i think. And this is sad."
Amazing post timing actually. This NEEDS to get out if its the issue. I saw the same post you copied from and it was the only logical answer.
I purchased a 3GS yesterday. Phone is 1 week old. ALL features worked. Wifi, bluetooth, etc.
Serial is Week 36. Same issue. Was throwing on IOS 4.1 via RedSn0w with BB 06.15.00.
As it sits now after the JB and BB update:
IMEI, ICCID, Moderm Firmware = blank
WIFI = disabled/greyed out
Bluetooth = 00:00:00:00:00:00 etc
I've JB'ed and unlocked a handful of other phones, but with this, i'm completely stumped.
I've pretty much exhausted all possible fixes that I know of and have read. I have attempted restores with original firmware, cooked firmware (sn0wbreeze)....... re-flashing BB with redsn0w (with cydia and without)....etc.etc.
Note: The "flashing baseband" step with redsn0w seems to not finish. The "completion meter" only goes about halfway before the phone simply reboots.
yea man, i tried everything too,, but the only thing that works is getting forced to take it back to technicians at an apple store with the tools to unsauder the baseband chip and reflash it back to the right baseband ios 5.0 is on. i heard other places rather than apple know how to reflash the chip, but idk if they clean up well
