Default Jailbreak iPhone 4 on IOS 5 stopped going into DFU mode; Itunes will not restore mode

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 5 then subsequently jailbroke the phone using redsn0w 0.9.9b4. The phone has been working fine the past few days (I've only installed Cydia apps that are listed as compatible).

I did a reboot this morning and now the phone will not go into DFU mode (I've tried multiple times). Failing to get into DFU mode, it "hangs" on the Apple logo (as if you try to untether boot jailbroken IOS 5). I can manually put the phone into restore mode; but iTunes will not recognize that a device is detected in either mode. I've tried connecting the iPhone in restore mode to both my Mac (which I used to jailbreak) and my PC.... any ideas on how to get my Mac to recognize my iPhone so I can at least recover it.

<On windows when I connect the device in Restore Mode, I get the beep and it comes up as unknow device ... with the note "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

    Any suggestions?

I did a search and was unable to find a solution, so my apologies is a solution has already been posted.

I jailbroke a friend of mines iPhone 4 and it did the same thing. On my computer it would just give the device not recognized error. I tried it on an old laptop and it works just fine. My computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and my laptop is the same but 32bit. I wonder if it's just a 64bit problem.
