I purchased a phone off Craigslist and had it jailbroken/unlocked by a third party. I would like to update to 4.2 for certain apps that I want to use. I checked all my stuff and I am running on baseband 6.15.00. Is is possible for me to go to 4.2 and if so what steps or process do I need to use. I am using the iPhone on the T-mobile network.
With iPad Baseband , you can only restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1 or higher. You need shsh blob for IOS 4.xx restore.
You can only restore to custom firmware of iOS 5 without blob as you can verify with apple serverif you want.
You can unlock on 5.0. You will need to build a custom firmware with Sn0wbreeze (easy). If you have 3GS with new bootrom the jailbreak is tethered. In any event it looks like location services currently don't work on 5.0 with iPad Bb. So if you live four square and the like don't upgrade. But otherwise it works.
Ok thanks for your reply! So if I unlock on 5 i just can't use GPS stuff... I have no idea on how to build firmware either lol.. Im a total noob... Sorry!
