Guys... It's again me. I have succesed to update, jailbreak and unlock iOS 5 on my girlfriend's iPhone 3GS (iPad baseband) thru sn0wbreeze and redsn0w (to enter pwned DFU). Everything was working for like 1 hour, then... Phone suddenly turned off and I could not open it anymore, and get anything on screen neither... And now, each time I'm trying to restore software it's giving me error 28 . Guys help me... She threats me she will dump me if it won't work
I just have read somewhere that I can just dont touch iPhone for few days and let battery completly die- so it will bring the same results as taking battery off. Is that truth? And so... When the error would finally gone, what am I suppose to do? Let me tell You over again:
I have iPhone 3gs BB 06.15 new botroom. (no saved blobs- such lame, yes I know that now :/). I have made a custom IPSW using sn0wbreeze and made a mistake to choose old botroom- so i had some problems with boot it , but it worked at last. Installed ultrasn0w, it required reboot so I turned iPhone back with redsn0w 'Just boot'. Everything seemed to working fine. I put my iPhone away for a while. When i took it back to my hand, it was already dead. Tried to plug it in, boot with redsn0w but it stucked at 'Waiting for reboot'. I decided to restore again, but this time with right new botroom custom IPSW. (and weird thing happen that iTunes said it will verify my IPSW). It shown me (I can't remember now, I'm guessing) error 14. Then I tried restore again, and here we go- error 28.
Please tell me what should I do after geting ride of error 28 that I could make my iPhone finally work.
Error 28 is hardware like iyeow said try the battery removal from logic board to completely drain battery reinstall. Has the 3GS ever had water damage? I bought an old 3G on eBay for parts and tried to restore it and it was throwing error 28. Once I took apart the iPhone I saw the water indicators were red not white.
Have you tried restoring to 4.1, all 3g and 3gs owners can restore to 4.1 again.
You can either let the battery drain off completely or remove the battery. Your dfu screen may be solved if it is not hardware related.
She is the first owner of the iPhone and says it has not been damaged by liquid. I think it's the iPad baseband- always cause lot of problems... @iYeow- I have tried but it was after Error 28 begun to appear, so I got to wait untill the battery drain. (I'm afraid open it myself). I will try to downgrade to 4.1 then, and post what I'll get.
I waited one week and tried again, no matter to what software I'm trying to upgrade/downgrade- 4.1.2, 5.0 custom, 5.0 official- there is always 28 Error.
But I found a trick... When I press 'Recovery Fix' in redsn0w it stucks at 'Waiting for reboot', but I just let it be (don't close it) then open iReb thru Sn0wbreeze or open one more redsn0w, and put to Pwned DFU. After that, iTunes shows me error- 1602 and iPhone's screen is white. What Can I do now? Please for any help, I have been sitting on it for so many many hours...
