How to downgrade after ios 5 update?

Hi guys

I'm new here and i dont know if I'm right here bit I hope you can help me.
I have a iphone 4 locked to T-Mobile it was on 4.1 with baseband 2.10.04.
I'm usually using the Gevey Sim the use other carriers but i'm out of the country right now
so I just use my iphone to listen to music ect.

On october the 12th i updated my iphone to IOS 5 (without thinking).
When it was done updating i realized that i need a T-Mobile to activate my iphone 4.
But i didnt bring my t-mobile card (that i hardly use ) with me to the states.
so i bought a t-mobile prepaid card here in the usa - guess what - apparently it is not being supported!
wtf- t-mobile is t-mobile right? i'm from germany by the way

-> I cant use my phone at all now
and i know that my baseband was updated to 04.11.08 ->so the GEvey sim doesnt work anymore.

i saved my shsh. with tinyumbrella a few months ago when my iphone was still on 4.1 and baseband 2.10.04.

now my questions
Can i downgrade/restore my phone back to 4.1 so that a get my old baseband back?
Can i can i somehow bypass the activation with some jailbreak tools?

if yes, please please explain it to me

i tried to restore it to 4.1 even downloaded the "iPhone3,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw" ->shift+restore in itunes-> picked the ipsw file>
but i always get error 20 or 3194.

Downgrading fw will not downgrade Baseband.
To downgrade , you need shsh blob for verification.
If you have the blob, use TSS server to help you to verify your restore.
You can downgrade using custom firmware.

Download latest Tiny Umbrella, plug iphone in , request shsh blob from cydia and click save shsh.
Under general tab, e.g : if you have 4.3.3 blob, you can start tss server and keep it running.
Put iphone into pwned dfu mode , create a custom firmware of 4.3.3
Run itunes : shift + restore to custom firmware of 4.3.3.

If you downgrade RIGHT NOW to 4.3.5 (on an iPhone 4), you're baseband will downgrade to 4.10.01 because Apple is still signing that firmware and baseband. From there you can downgrade to 4.3.3 if you want untethered and you can preserve it going forward. You have to do it quick though. Once Apple closes the signing window, no more baseband downgrade.

On the i4 when 4.3.5 is out. If they are still signing it then you can hurry and downgrade baseband.

Yes, but only when a new firmware is out and Apple is still signing the previos one. It's a very small window.

In this case, as soon as apple stops signing 4.3.5, baseband downgrading is done. You can still downgrade firmware via SHSH, but not baseband.

hi guys
i just tried it but an error occurred

i started tinyumbrella -> plugged iphone in -> enter recovery mode -> itunes SHIFT+restore -> selected "iPhone3,1_4.3.5_8L1_Restore" data which i download from here iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download -> it starts restoring (you know apple logo and loading) -> but then the error message "iphone could not be restored". An unknown error occurred (1)!"

please help me what does it mean

If you downgrade RIGHT NOW to 4.3.5 (on an iPhone 4), you're baseband will downgrade to 4.10.01 because Apple is still signing that firmware and baseband. From there you can downgrade to 4.3.3 if you want untethered and you can preserve it going forward. You have to do it quick though. Once Apple closes the signing window, no more baseband downgrade.

Im also looking to downgrade but I am so confused and having the same problems as the poster. I have jailbroken my iphone4 ios 5/04.11.08 with redsn0w I am trying to downgrade to 4.3.5 so i can downgrade my baseband.

Add to host file 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com then put ur phone in dfu do a restore to 4.3.5 youll get an error then downgrade itunes to 10.1.2.17 put ur phone back in dfu and kick it out of recovery with fixrecovery4.3 u dont need tiny umbrella running during that

I think that first you should not use Tinyumbrella, just Shift+Restore from iTunes browse to stock 4.3.5 (just so that you can downgrade BB). Then you can downgrade to 4.3.3 with Tinyumbrella for the untethered JB

You should do this A.S.A.P though before Apple stops signing 4.3.5

Im now on 4.3.5 and baseband 4.10.01 with my t-mobile locked iphone 4

2. is a unlock possible now (so that i dont have to use the gevey sim anymore)
3. like a mentioned i need to ACTIVATE my iphone with my german T-Mobile-card (cant do anything with phone right now -itunes+USB logo on my phone every time i switch it on- that means i have to activate it right?) is there a way to BYPASS the ACTIVATION ? maybee with the jailbreak tools?

Wow, you downgraded your baseband , that is good.
Yes, you can use Gevey sim for unlock even without a jailbreak.
It is better to have the official sim to trigger it into Homescreen or you can hactivate and jailbreak it with redsn0w. This is going to be a tethered jailbreak though.
Do you have any other blob like 4.3.3, check with tiny umbrella if you haven't done so.

Downgrading to 4.3.5 is the only way to downgrade BB to 4.10.01(Gevey supports up to that BB not higher), downgrading directly to 4.3.3 will not work

You will have to use Gevey Sim for unlock

Now you should use Tinyumbrella and downgrade to 4.1 (your BB will not downgrade though and it will always be 4.10.01 but that's fine as Gevey supports it)

i have blob 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.3, ..... (should i downgrad to 4.3.3 or leave it at 4.3.5?)
its just that i cant do anything with my iphone until my original sim from germany arrives.
if jailbreak my iphone 4 (4.3.5) with redsnow does it ACTIVATE my phone?

AND during the update to IOS 5 (which started all my problems ) itunes made a pretty long back up
its just that now i lost all my data (music, pictures...)
if I activate it with redsnow can i get my data back?
