iOS 5 upgrading

Hi i need to upgrade to ios5 but itunes is showing me error 3194. I have troubleshooted every step given on apple support but still the same error coming. I am on iOS 4.3.5 and I jailbreak my device through redsn0w which is a tethered jailbreak. Plz suggest me how can I solve this problem.

I have tried to update on both windows n mac. I am on iPhone4 iOS 4.3.5 and I jailbreak my device through redsn0w which is a tethered jailbreak. Plz suggest me how can I solve this problem.

Make sure your host file isn't pointed at cydia for one...check host file for any listing for gs.apple.com..if that is there put a # in front of it, or delete that line, and save it, then try again...apple servers getting pounded!!

This happened to me and i had checked everything to do with Host files and the lot. I gave up eventually, tried again and again but still error 3194 appeared. You'll be pleased to know that I managed to upgrade in the end and im now running iOS 5 perfectly fine. I did this by putting my phone into DFU and then upgrading that way. Firstly i turned my phone off and then back on which did nothing as the JB was thethered and my iPhone got stuck in the bootn cycle. From this i turned the phone off again, restarted and put it into DFU. This then flashed up on iTunes to say a device has been found and needs to be recovered, clicked restore and everything worked seemless and correctly. Hope this helps and works for you like it did for me. Let me know how you get on of you decide to do this method. Thanks

Hey thankzzz a lot I tried so many things from modifying the hosts file and internet explorer settings to tiny umbrella but was unsuccessful each time. The same error pops up each time and tht irritates me. Than i tried ur method putting the phone in DFU mode so tht itunes recognise it & restores it but again didnt get the success

I tried this method twice but didnt get success. The third time i tried the same thing the only difference that I made is selecting the ipsw manually by pressing the shift key & restore together when itunes ask for the fon to restore. And I got the success now i am on ios5 really exited n waiting for an untethered jailbreak. So thank you very much coz U put me in the ryt direction @ gevs2410 thanks a lot!!!
