Default DFU Mode without Home button?

    Hey guys,

I am in the possession of an iPhone 4 with iOS5, coming from 4.3.3.

I was one of the lucky people who didn't have to redownload iOS5 to install it, yet I have a little problem with my phone.
As mentioned in the TT, the home button of my iPhone 4 is broken, don't ask me how, because I wouldn't know. My i4 is unscratched and has never been dropped anywhere so far, it simply stopped working.

Now when I tried redsnow to JB my phone, it asked me to put it in DFU mode. in 4.3.3 this wasn't an issue and my home button was still working back then. But currently it's dead and I need to get it in DFU mode.

Now I've been looking across the net for a solution including iReb, IPSW corrupting and a tool which dates out of 2008 which obviously wouldn't work.

I am in the possession of both a OSX operating system and a Windows system, so compatibility is no real problem.

I am hoping that one of you guys can provide me with a solution to my problem.

    Regards,
    IndoMonkey

I don't think it can be done. I'm not 100% on that, but when I had a similar issue some time ago, after exhaustive searching, I couldn't find a solution.

I've not had a 4 apart yet, but I do know getting at the back of the screen on a 4 is harder than a 3G/3GS. However once there, deposing the home button is pretty easy. In fact it might not even need replacing, the wee connector prongs might just need a bit of a tweak.

I'm assuming you can't just return for a replacement under warranty?

Meh, after reading these posts I decided to give up on it and send the iPhone back to Apple, they said that this was a rather unknown problem to them and that I will probably get an entirely new one. Also it's covered under warranty, sweet.
