Need help with an jailbroken 3GS!!

Jailbroke my phone with blackra1n when I got it like 2 years ago, never updated since then. But I'm getting a lot of notices about this and that app needs at least ios4 to work etc. I haven't done this in so long I can't recall how to do it correctly as I'm reading way to many issues people are running into now vs then. I'm still on 3.1.2 and afrid of screwing the phone or something up. My itunes says 10.4.1

I'm just confused about what's changed and what has to be done now etc. I've read some threads on here and still confused lol. I know on Cydia I have the blobs 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.1, 4.2.1+ ... I also jailbroke on my PC laptop I don't have anymore, have a Macbook Pro, so again not sure if stuff if process is different?

I posted this a few months ago on another forum and someone gave this answer: Just restore and re-JB with sn0wbreeze to go to 4.3.3 with preserved baseband for unlocking if needed. Is it that simple? I see on here and other places like a ton of steps and ssh this and that file

Is it possible to get a list of steps of what to do? TSS is part of tinyumbrella right?

Build your custom firmware.
Put iphone into pwned dfu using Snowbreeze tools
Run TU , download all your shsh blob from cydia.
Start TSS server
Open iTunes and restore to custom fw.

Thanks! Wondering if I should just update to iOS5 GM since there is a tethered jailbreak, and untethered should be out soon? What do you think?

If you have a developer account, then go for it. GM is not the final version, you still need to restore again when IOS 5 goes public.

Yeh 1 more day, may as well wait. I figure iOS5 looks good and reports show it running even smoother and faster than iOS3 AND 4, still want to jailbreak as there are some app's I like and I have a cool animated home screen hack for my local weather that's animated.
