Default iphone 3g 4.2.1 baseband 5.15 can't save shsh blob or restore?
I have a iphone 3g that is jailbroken with redsn0w. I tried to save the shsh blobs with tinyumbrella and ifaith and no luck. ifaith would say unsupported device and tinyumbrella would say it could not find any shsh blobs. but if my fw is 4.2.1 and 5.15 why can't I save the blobs? and if i can't save the blobs how am i going to restore later on?
I know i can unlock it with redsn0w and updating fw to 6.15 and using cydia ultrasn0w but then would I never be able to restore it since I can't make a custom firmware?
You can only save blobs for the CURRENT firmware being signed by Apple which is 4.3.5. You can try iFaith to see if it can save your 4.2.1 blobs. I've never used it but I think that's what it's for.
If it is a 3G you can save your SHSH for 4.2.1 for it as that is the current firmware for that device and apple is still signing it. Not much need to however since that is the last firmware for that device so apple will always allow restore to it.
You sure it is a 3G and not a 3GS right? Is the writing on the back where it says iPhone dark grey or bright silver?
i am sure it is a 3g because the camera has no autofocus. If I can't save the shsh blobs how do I restore? won't iTunes restore to 4.3.5 and then I won't have a untethered jailbreak? and no unlock since I won't be able to mod the baseband to 6.15?
I just don't understand why iFaith is saying I have a unsupported device. I am using iFaith 1.3.2. I've done this before on other iphone 3g(s) and no problems except for this one.
