Alright, I've been trying to downgrade from 4.3.5 to 4.0.1. I have downloaded the ISPW and have been using TinyUmbrella as well. I use to run 4.0.1 with the PDF backdoor jailbreak. I did a couple back ups before I had to send in the phone for service but ended up getting a new phone. I'm trying to downgrade then restore from that backup. I just edited my hosts file and removed the two lines associated with Cydia. However, when I do a shift + restore in iTunes I get the unknown error (20) message when just trying to downgrade to 4.0.1. When I try to restore from the back (any backup from the past YEAR) it says the backup session has failed. Any ideas? I've been trying to solve this for about 4 or 5 hours now and can't get it resolved. iFaith says unknown iOS?
Specs:
Win 7 64 bit
current iTunes
current TU
current everything
Also, in the past, I've used iBackupbot to restore using a backup, but the program can't see the iPhone is connected. Is my driver faulty? I'm at a loss.
What phone-iOS-baseband do u have now?...do u unlock?..I think u said this was replacement phone?...do u have shsh blobs for 4.0.1 for that phone? No blobs=no downgrade...download latest TU and run that. Save shsh blobs with advanced tab request from cydia unchecked then checked...then see what blobs u have. If only 4.3.5, that's the only ver u can use..u should just restore to 4.3.5 if so..at least u should get a working phone..
I have 4.10.01 baseband. This is not the phone I'll have, it's a loaner, so I was using it as my test mule. It's not unlocked but yes the one I get next week will be a replacement. I *used* have the shsh blobs and I had Cydia back up my old blobs at one point but TU is saying Cydia does not have them.
Can iFaith give me the blobs I need it? Thanks for your help xboxblm.
You cannot do a backup restore if you downgrade because your backup has been updated to a newer firmware version.
You cannot downgrade with blobs, apple restriction.
You can use ifaith to dump your blob, create a signed fw and restore again on your current firwmare but if you are in recovery mode, ifaith won't work.
I've got it out of recovery mode and it was fully functional as of last night. I have iFaith running right now but it's been going for 15 minutes. It hasn't timed out or given me an error this time but there hasn't been any progress either. Does this happen a lot?
When you say my backup has been updated to the newer firmware, does that happen automatically from iTunes? Why can't I use the backup?
If you updated your firmware and setup as new iphone under a different name, a new backup is created and your old backup is left untouched. Then if you decide you don't like it and downgrade back to same original fw, you can do a backup restore.
If you upgraded to newer firmware and use the old backup restore , iTunes will overrides the old backup to a newer backup version , so you can't use the backups anymore.
Learn from mistake is the way to go.
Ah, I see what you're saying, but I can't restore from a backup. It tells me the backup fails, no matter which one I try. No error code to lookup either. I haven't been able to restore, and from what you're saying, I should be able to do it once. Am I correct or am I misreading what you're saying?
