Im an idiot, please help, 3gs borked

Hi Guys

I have stuffed my phone. 'another newb' I hear you all say. Well yes I accept the shame. Please someone get me out of this jam.

So old iphone 3gs died. Damn - went on gumtree and got myself a new one locked to orange (I am o2).

Phone before i stuffed it works fine.

So its running 4.2.1 on BB 05.15.04

A quick google and I see I need to jail break and update the basband to Ipad version 06.15.00. I proceed to do this and all goes swimmingly. The Baseband is flashed, Cydia is installed I then use ulstrasnow to unlock. Hey presto I can use my Phone on o2.

Right this is where it all goes poo

I try to restore from a backup so I can have my old contacts, email accounts etc. I do this and looks like its going well. Then the reboot comes and nothing, it hangs for 1 hour on the loading bar.

I reset. Now hangs on apple logo. I boot from the tether using redsnow 0.9.6b5 - i get the logo then phone kicks back to apple logo and hangs.

I try fix recover using umbrella - nothing.

Tried to restore the firmware to 4.2.1 and I get 1015 error at the last.

I cant go any further I am lost. Currently downloading both activated and unactivated custom ipsws from another thread on this forum.


Do I have a chance in hell of these working?

Please someone, anyone, help - I am going to cry 2 phones in two days and £200 down arg!
