Default iPhone 4 (4.3.5) sticks on Apple logo of Cydia requests a reboot.

iPhone 4 (4.3.5) jailbroke using redsn0w 0.9.8b7 and all appears to work. Installed a couple of apps and worked fine. However tried to install another one sbsettings (I beleive!) which after installation via Cydia requests a system reboot. The phone attempts to restart but sticks on the Apple logo and won't go anywhere!! I left it for a while as I was thinking it would finally reboot with the jailbroke apps not working and require DFU mode and taking the 'Just boot tethered right now' option to get things working.
Any thoughs... I've restored twice now, and rejailbroke but came back to the same issue.

Yeah tried that, when I finally managed to get it in to DFU mode (most of the time it just seemed to be looping around and turning back on to the apple logo as soon as I got it off). It all worked fine until Cydia wanted me to reboot. Any ideas... first time I've tried jailbreaking

4.3.5 only offered a tethered jailbreak, meaning that when you reboot of the phone battery dies, you have to connect it to a pc to boot tethered, best advice as it's your first jailbreak would be to downgrade the firmware to 4.1 (this is the last firmware that's still signed by Apple) & then you can have an untethered jailbreak, so you don't need to connect it to a pc all the time when you restart.

Thanks for that Susty. I understand the need (as it's a tethered jailbreak) to connect it to the PC to boot tethered. The bit that I am confused by is that when it reboots it sticks on the Apple logo, when do I put it in to DFU mode to allow me to 'boot as tethered' option?

Ahh sorry, if you put it into the DFU mode straight away (so when you see the apple logo, press & hold the power & home button together... You'll hear that noise that says it's disconnected from the USB, hold it for about 5 more seconds then let go of the power but keep the home button held, you'll hear the connect USB sound again), once you have it in that state, then you can boot tethered. Hope that helps.

I'll give it a go again ... it's just restoring (again!) as I needed to use my phone as I am going out for a while. I'll try it when I get back in, and post back if that's okay. Fingers Crossed.

No worries, realised your on an iPhone 4 so the 4.1 firmware isn't an option unfortunately... But that process will work for you. Also if your looking at using it as a longer solution till an untethered solution comes out, you can buy cases that act as extended batteries, that way you don't get caught out on longer trips.
