ok cool about the cydia.

Unfortunately I only have backups on an old pc which i had to uninstall and then re-install itunes onto and although I can click in restore from backup and choose one from may and june I get a message saying that it could not restore because the backup could not be saved on the computer ?

I did not ever sync my accounts with google or ical as i am not familiar with them really.

Is my only option to restore back to 4.3.5 to get everything back ?

Well ... maybe, but that's a terrible option. Lots of issues getting the data off then back on a 4.3.3.
I wouldn't do it unless you have experience. PKGBackup could help out, but it's a bit complicated with it's many options and capabilities.

is there a way to restore from original backup of 4.3.5 ? but not loose cydia ?

i am just trying a restore from backup of 4.3.5 via standard itunes to see what happens. tiny umbrella still working to.

iTunes will sync, but will not restore a backup from a prior 'higher version' backup.

im still on 4.3.3 and i did a usuall restore from backup from a 4.3.5 backup i did earlier today.

I got all notes, contacts and emails etc.

But i lost nearly all app, but I can get them back easy enough.

Ahh. It must be the very minor version number change that allowed a restore from backup....
