Thread: ERROR 37 on iPhone 3GS 4.3.3 sn0wbreeze custom firmware

  1. #1
Default ERROR 37 on iPhone 3GS 4.3.3 sn0wbreeze custom firmware
The phone started as a stock 4.3.3 3GS. I used sn0wbreeze to create a custom 4.3.3 firmware with ipad baseband upgrade and using Tinyumbrella TSS server to sign the firmware. Everything went well however I am getting an error code 37 after iTunes restore. The phone is stuck in DFU mode, I haven't tried to restore it back to any other software after the error 37.

    Any ideas? Thanks

On an iPhone 3GS, select "new boot-rom" and deselect all custom bootlogos, then recreate the IPSW.
Download and use the latest Sn0wbreeze 2.7.3.
Use Simple or Expert Mode in Sn0wbreeze.

Error 37 is odd. If you're not including boot logo's, it doesn't make sense.

Try building and restoring to 4.1.
You need to download Sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 and the 4.1 ipsw.

Apple is signing 4.1 so Tiny Umbrella is not needed.
If iTunes Error 10xx, use 'exit recovery' from Tiny Umbrella.

Would this be a problem if I tried to upload the ipad baseband the first time around? For some reason when I tried to DFU restore (custom 4.3.3) through itunes, it seemed like it went through however it went right back to DFU without any error codes.

Shouldn't be a problem. Try to get something loaded (aka 4.1).
Error 37 is odd. Never see it, so back to basics

    Can I stock load a 4.1?

Came back with error code 1015, so I hit it with fixrecoever43.

Nothing, now its USB with itunes.

    Fixrecovery43 is for iOS 4.3.x, not 4.1

What iOS did you load? Custom firmware or stock?

If you load 4.1 and get 10xx error, use 'exit recovery' from Tiny Umbrella

So 4.1 is loaded and running? Good

    To get to 4.3.3,
Use TU + TSS Server, verify SHSH blobs and no TSS error.
Snowbreeze 2.7.3 to build cfw & enter pwnd-DFU mode
    ITunes to restore.
If 10xx error, enter ... normal ... DFU and use fixrecovery43

    I'm stumped with Error 37.
Searching the web indicates possible iTunes registry problems.
    Try uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes.

Temporarily dsable all firewall & antivirus utilities. ZoneAlarm is a known problem.

I tried a completely new computer, all firewalls disabled, error 37 popped up again. I am stumped. The phone is in DFU mode right now. I am going to try to update it without the ipad baseband.

4.1 works. It is very odd 4.1 works and nothing else does.
I have a suspicion there's a problem with your SHSH blobs.
Go back to 4.1, install iSHSHit via Cydia get blobs that way and email to yourself.
Then change the name/extension to allow Tiny Umbrella to use them during the restore.

With a stock 4.1, Redsnow is the easiest way to jb.

What do I change the extension to? or do I just replace it?

I got shshit on my email, saved it.

    " 1139677359405-iphone2,1-4.1.shsh "

    Do change it to

    "1139677359405-iphone2,1-4.3.3.shsh" ?

The SHSH you have is for 4.1. Can't change 4.1 to 4.2.1 or 4.3.3. You need SHSH for each version.
Does iSHSHit show more SHSH? Or just one?

  21. #19
Just one from iSHSHit which is the 4.1

On TU it shows one for 4.3.5 and 4.1 .

Currently the phone is jailbroken on 4.1 with firmware 4.1 and MF 05.16.02

You are stuck with 4.1 or 4.3.5. Can't get around it.
SHSH blobs are iDevice + iOS version unique. No sharing, no changing allowed.
