Upgrading iPhone 3GS to 4.3.3
Heyya,
I've got an iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.0.1
I know there is a possiblity to jailbreak 4.3.3 very easy with JailbreakMe.
Does someone know a simple way to upgrade this 3GS from 3.0.1 to 4.3.3?
(Didn't worked with iTunes)

First step is to download tiny umbrella and find out what SHSH you have.

Then now is the time to save them. You should be able to save 4.1 and 4.3.5 with tiny umbrella if you have never saved them before. So 4.1 is as high as you can go and keep a untethered jailbreak.

Huh, weird. Should at least show up with the currently signed firmware versions.

Well the power button isn't relevant to this but that's not good ... you could upgrade to 4.1 without SHSHs though like Simon said. With a stock firmware. And hope you never have to go into DFU mode for whatever reason.

You can save 4.1 and 4.3.5 SHSH by opening tiny umbrella, click advanced then deselect the box that says request SHSH from cydia. Then press save shsh.

You can update in iTunes but I don't believe jailbreakme works on 4.1 so without a power button you won't be able to jailbreak if you update to 4.1.

+1. Yeah all the jb tools I can think of on 4.1 require DFU.
edit: Simon, for GP, DFU for it does it have to be pwned? I think I remember once my device was already in standard DFU mode and I just opened GP and instead of it asking me to do the whole DFU process all over again it just opened up the "Jailbreak" button for me to click. So I clicked it and it went. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong ...

DFU is DFU, pwned or not it requires the power button so greenpoison is a no go for him unfortunately.

I was wondering bc people have forced DFU without the power button. The matter of if it is safe or not is a different story
I wouldn't do it if it were me though.

Forced DFU? Only way I know to get DFU without the button is to modify a firmware file to error out in iTunes and leave you in dfu. Wouldn't help in this case though.....unless he is able to do that and get redsnow to put it into pwned dfu. Then he could restore to a custom 4.1 firmware.

Ya, too risky. Not sure I would even try it in the same situation.
