Ok so I'm currently unemployed so I've decided to switch to T-Mobile for a bit. My friend happened to have a spare 3GS they let me borrow to do so. So I've been trying to jailbreak it but it already seems to be jailbroken. He said he used the jailbreakme 2.0 web app. Mind you the iPhone is firmware 4.0 and baseband 05.13.04. When I try to add any source I found it won't let me and cydia seems to not load correctly anyways. When I try to rejailbreak iTunes gives me an error saying that an unexpected error occurred. How would I go about jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone to an even more current firmware to use with T-Mobile. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You are in luck coz of the baseband. Hope you have shsh stored on cydia servers. Do this open cydia And tell us if it has numbers in green on top of it's homepage. We can proceed further then
No green numbers up top . Also gives me a database error when I open Cydia saying Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cydia.list(dist parse)
Ok I downloaded Tiny Umbrella and see a Save all SHSHs. I click on that and it does nothing. I just want to be able to restore it to 4.0 and then jailbreak it so I can unlock it to be used with T-Mobile. Sorry still new to this whole jailbreaking thing and I haven't done it in a while.
EDIT: iFaith has no available blobs.

In order to load any non-current iOS, SHSH blobs are required. Give thanks to Apple for this limitation
Tiny Umbrella is the primary tool to check which SHSH blobs are available.
In TU, go to Advanced tab, check 'get from Cydia', Save SHSH, then uncheck 'get from cydia', Save SHSH.
Now in the general tab, what is listed.
IFaith need a working phone. Is your phone working now?
