I need help DESPERATLY!
The Beginning of my Woes
Okay, here's my story. Two days ago I was attempting to change my SSH password, A couple hours of tinkering, when I stupidly and regrettably deleted a file could 'master.passwd', thinking that it would recreate itself when I rebooted. Which it didn't.
When I rebooted the I Phone took longer to load than usual. At first the apple logo appeared, then it switches to the greenpois0n logo. I was wondering why it was taking so long to load, so I rebooted a few times and finally decided to restore it.
The Restoring Process
Okay, so i thought that a simple custom FW restore would be straight forward. Plug in, shift+restore and yeah. Which didn't not work, got a error 3194. So then after numerous failed attempts, I gave in and tried to do an official apple restore and guess what that didn't work too. Got a 1015 error, I think i can't remember.
After these to restore, it got worse. My I phone now, once rebooted it goes straight into recovery mode and loops.
Searching the Internet for Solutions
So I searched the internet for solutions, which lead me to a DFU mode restore solution. I had hoped that this would restore my I phone back to normal, but there was 1 problem I can't get into DFU mode. I know the process, Connect device, turn off device, hold sleep/power button and home button for 10 seconds, etc, etc.
I can't enter DFU mode because my I phone won't stay turned off, I have tried other DFU methods. Such as hold sleep and home plugged in which I think worked but itunes doesn't detect it.
So yeah, that's the story. I know I'm stupid for tinkering with things I shouldn't be touching, but I guess curiosity got the better of me.
Very Long Story Short
1) Tried to change SSH Password
2) Deleted 'master.passwd'
3) Tried to restore with Custom Firmware and Official
4) I phone now loops in recovery mode when rebooted
5) Tried to enter DFU mode
6) Can not enter DFU mode because I phone won't stay turned off
7) Tried different DFU method, which I think worked (Black Screen) but itunes doesn't detect idevice
Specs:
IPhone 4: OSI 4.2.1
Jailbroken with greenpois0n
Itunes : 10.4.0.80
OS: Windows XP
Now, I need your help modmyi community. Any help and tips will be appreciated. Please help, I'll give you an imaginary cookie
Oh I may have forgotten some details, so if you need more information about the situation just ask.

What iOS do you want to load?
If anything except the current iOS (4.3.5), SHSH blobs are required.
Download and run Tiny Umbrella, connect phone .....
..in advanced tab...
....check 'get from cydia', click save shsh
....uncheck 'get from cydia', click save shsh
In General tab, what SHSH blobs are shown?

Hi, Mes
I did what you told me to do, but I don't see anything in the general tab.
Oh I forgot to tell you a critical piece of information. I have never saved my SHSH blobs, due to the fact that my friend jailbreaked my I phone.
Is that maybe why I'm not getting anything information about my SHSH blobs? I know rookie/noob/stupid mistake.
Is there any other way to fix my problem?

^SHSH blobs are stored two places ... on Cydia and Apple servers. Maybe your jailbreak[er] friend told Cydia to start saving them. This happens with most jailbreakers. That's why we use Tiny Umbrella - to download them to our personal computer.
The General tab should show at least one, the current SHSH blob (4.3.5). Apple is giving it away free now
Because you don't have 4.3.5 something is wrong with your computer or you're doing something wrong.
Reload TU and try again. If possible do it on a different computer. You should be able to get at least one SHSH blob (4.3.5) -- and if you're lucky ... more
Check the Tiny Umbrella link (in my signature pane) for more information.Last edited by Mes; 08-11-2011 at 11:43 PM.

Hi Mes...again, sorry for all the trouble =/
Okay I think there may be something wrong with my computer, so I'll try it with another computer.
Could the state of my phone, being in a Recovery loop affect the outcome of the SHSH blobs?
If for some reason I can't get a SHSH blob for my iphone 4 could I use another iphone 4's SHSH blob to recover my idevice?
I'll report back my results. Oh thanks for you help Mes

If your phone shows in the left pane of Tiny Umbrella it can retrieve SHSH blobs.
Sorry, SHSH blobs can not be shared.

Hey Mes, I tried retrieving my SHSH blobs on a different computer, but no dice. =/
Oh and I thought i should let you know that when I opened tinyumbrella I don't think it detected my device properly.
It showed numbers instead of the name of the iphone on my computer its '1114143' and in the general tab it says '-Invalid'
Is it hopeless to revive my iphone? Is this the end? I mean, if there is anything ANYTHING I can do, I'll try it.
Oh and once again, Thank you Mes for all your help =)

Yeah, maybe I should've Jailbreaked my iphone myself and read some guides and 'essential things to do once you jailbreak your iphone' article or something, instead of being lazy and letting someone else do it for me =/
*Sigh* Oh well you learn from your mistakes, I guess.

Do you know the ECID #? If yes, this can be entered manually in Tiny Umbrella. Must don't know this number
.
Not much you can do without SHSH blobs.
-

I see two ECID (Dec) and (Hex), which one do I use?
-
08-13-2011, 09:35 PM #12
I think Dec. But try both? By the way: Where did you find both ECID #'s ?
-
08-13-2011, 11:20 PM #13
Both of the ECID #'s are in the general tab for TinyUmbrella.
Using Tiny Umbrella v5.00.09 (Latest I think).
Yay! I got some SHSH blobs finally.
Thanks Mes really appreciate all your help.
Okay, now what do I do? I have iphone 4 4.3.5, 5.0b1, 5.0b2, 5.0b3
Sorry for being a burden Mes =/Last edited by BraSerk; 08-13-2011 at 11:26 PM.

I finally got my iphone to 3.4.5, Yay!
Now I'm trying to jailbreak it with Redsn0w, but my iphone is being a b***h
and won't let me go into DFU mode =/
Tried a couple times already, same result "iphone not detected" *sigh* maybe I just have bad timing.
Anyways, just wondering if you have any tips or easier that would allow me to get into DFU mode.

@BraSerk. Turn the computer volume up and listen for low-high and high-low sounds ( USB connected / disconnected ). Should hear these even when iTunes doesn't see it.

First thing I would do is get PUSH working. To get and verify the unique push certificate, install iPusher via App Store and Push Checker from cydia.pushfix.info to test. After confirmed working, Notifications can be permanently turned off in Settings.
After that, a few system utilities: OpenSSH, SBSettings, Mobile Terminal.
The rest is up to you.
