alright i got a probolem. i ran cydia let it do the file stream thing and it exited and now i have Photos youtube stock weather and settings on my homescreen theres nothing else and no cydia. I restarded my phone

Should i redo:
Now run TU, select set host file to cydia > select your device on left and start tss server
Use ireb 4 to put iphone into dfu mode
Run itunes : shift + restore to cfw of 4.2.8

this time what should i do differently to run cydia for the first time? Should i be on wifi unplugged from my laptop?

well at first i did then it started loading all the cydia stuff and said it will close when its finished. it closed and now im stuck missing cydia and a bunch of other stuff i need

You first update cydia, then install your stuffs slowly and respring , not all at once...lol

im making my CFW from a ipsw of 4.2.8 i downloaded its called iPhone3,3_4.2.8_8E401_Resore
Thats not a probolem right?

That is the right way ,you use a stock fw to build a cfw

Lol, just to make sure. I set up as a new phone. Ill restart it connect to wifi then run cydia. does that sound like it would lower my chances of that happenening again lol

One last question. I had to do all of this on a different computer than i backed up my contacts and music and stuff. so now that its all good and jailbroken is it fine to plug it into my other computer and put my contacts on?
