Unable to jailbreak if I update fw?
Right now I am running iOS 4.1 on my jailbroken iPhone 3GS, but my apps keep closing themselves out and it's driving me nuts. I wanted to update to a newer fireware to see if that helped, but now I'm scared, too.
I keep reading that you cannot update to 4.3.3 unless you already had it downloaded, correct? I don't have it...
Then I read "jailbreakers beware of 4.3.5"... which made it sound like 4.3.5 won't ever be able to be jailbroken (untethered).
Basically, I'm wondering what I should do? Or what would you do?
Keep the 4.1 with jailbreak and just deal with it. Or update to 4.3.5 and hope for a jailbreak soon?
I'm not really good with all this, but I really like the mods to my phone.

Okay, I've never used tiny umbrella before, but I downloaded it and clicked "Save SHSH"
It says, under "Saved SHSHs for Summer:"
iPhone 3GS 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.3, and 4.3.5
Unlocked? No. I have AT&T.

First do NOT use internet explorer to do this. Either use chrome or firefox. Then go to Firmware - Downloads - ModMyi Forums and download a 4.3.3 firmware. Make sure its 4.3.3 for a 3GS. Then go into TinyUmbrella. Click Start TSS server. Then open iTunes. Plug the iPhone in. Click shift on your keyboard and then restore. Choose the 4.3.3 ipsw that you downloaded. Wait for it to finish restoring. Then go into safari. Go to JailbreakMe 3.0 click Install in the corner. It will jailbreak. Open Cydia and then install PDF patcher

Good, you can restore to 4.3.3 with your 4.3.3 blob. What is your baseband?
I guess you don't need unlock or you already have a non unlockable bb
@str4y , i like this multitouch gestures on my ipad 2 feature. I don't have to use Home button as much...

Thank you!! I use Firefox, already, and am downloading 4.3.3 right now (only 41 minutes left :P ).
Baseband.. tiny umbrella says: 05.14.02-6.4_M3S2 ? I didn't have to unlock when I jail broke it before. So, I don't really know anything about that.

Also, you'll lose all the mods currently on your phone when you update.
You'll have to download and reinstall them all again.
Apps/mods you've paid for, however, should still be registered to you so you can download them again for free.MMi Site Search Bookmarklet

Thanks! I thought I would... I even went in and wrote down all the ones I have so I could remember. =P It's good to know that wasn't a waste of time!
Why do I need to click shift? I pushed it and nothing happened?!
Also, how do I choose the 4.3.3 ipsw? When I go to click Restore in iTunes it just says that it will update it to the newest software, it doesn't give me any options to choose?
Nevermind! I got it!Last edited by MissSummer; 08-03-2011 at 07:37 PM.
