SHSH blobs
Is there any point in saving SHSH blobs on tinyumbrella if my iphone is officially unlocked?
Is SHSH blobs only for those who which to preserve baseband to unlock a locked iphone?

TU only helps with the preservation of basebands for iphone 4.
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella: Prevent iPhone4 Baseband Update
Tiny Umbrella's main function is saving your shsh blobs so you are allowed to downgrade your firmware to previous ones. Apple only allows you to restore to the firmwares they sign. Once they stop signing that firmware, there is no way to restore that firmware ever again without your shsh blobs.
I would say to continue saving them even if you're factory unlocked. I know I do. You never know when you're gonna wanna downgrade.Last edited by ihappy; 07-28-2011 at 08:15 AM.

Like in a time like this...when 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 are so utterly useless only serving the purpose of security patches (as well as the fact that no untethered jailbreak is out for them)

Bottom line there are no "accidental" upgrades

Lol see that's not an accident. That's his girlfriend being a little too helpful and not knowing any better. Completely not his own fault.

I get questions like: I accidently upgraded my phone to the newest firmware and didn't know I needed to save my shsh blobs. Can I use my friends files from his phone?

That's my favorite question! Bc I get to say no you can't

I mean everybody starts new at some point so it's not fair to make fun...but honestly if it were that easy wouldn't you have known already by Google?

I agree with you i.Annie. I understand the new to jailbreaking thing. But ummm...saving the shsh blobs has been pretty public for a while now. You would think a lil research will show shsh blobs are important. Its even been made easier with iSHSH, iFaith, and even Cydia automatically saves them for you. I remember when you had to click the "make my life easier" option, lol. How much easier can it get

I love that button. A lot of people forget that they push it though and they end up having SHSHs without knowing it. I'm perplexed as to how you forget you pushed it, maybe it's like those end user agreement things where nobody reads it until they have a problem
