I've been looking to downgrade to 4.3.3 from the dreaded 4.3.5. Luckily I have my SHSH backed up, but I've run into several issues. I've tried the following methods...
I've altered the hosts file via terminal (running lion); adding the IP Address
Run Tiny Umbrella, unchecked the box needed to a fresh install (under advance)
Alt + Click pointed towards ISPW 4.3.3 (error)
PWNED DFU Mode via Redsn0w
Repeated the above steps (error)
Sorta running out ideas...Any assistance would be greatful...

So I made sure that iTunes wasn't running.
Started TU rechecked the box that says set to Cydia
Highlighted the phone, and selected run TS Server
Set the phone to regular DFU mode (NO Apple/ iTune icons were visible on the phone).
I am running iTunes 10.5, think may an issue?

iTunes Errors - The iPhone WikiError 1600
Custom firmware can't be restored on a device with DFU Mode. The software of the iPhone isn't patched. Using iREB, Sn0wbreeze, Redsn0w or Pwnage Tool, you need to enter a pwned DFU-Mode. During that process the software gets patched and the custom firmware should run without any problems.

Pwnd-DFU mode with a custom ipsw should definitely do the trick for you. No matter what ipsw your downgrading from as long as it't not an iPad 2 with iOS 5 or higher. you can use redsn0w.
Here's a guide that might be helpful.
