    That fixes it.

    Hi all,
Today i'm try to restore my iphone again. this time i downgrade my iTunes to 10.4.1 and follow above steps. the 2005 error gone but appear 21 error. Any idea to get it of that. I also check my host file the original file as below
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    ::1 localhost

but after trying restore. the host file as below
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #

    ::1 localhost
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

My question is it normal or some step miss out. Please kindly advise.

    Continue with my restoring.

This time round i'm using snowbreeze to create custom firmware and follow above step again. Select the custom firmware during restore, everything go smoothly(i saw snowbreesze logo with a status bar on my iphone4) but when reach the end it give me error 21then my iphone stuck at recovery mode(try many times to exit recovery mode using TU but not successful).

With that, try to jailbreak with Greenpoison R6.1(as my is iphone 4 4.2.1) but jailbreak halp way it hang up(screen show many running word and hang).

Try again the above step and remain same condition with error 21. Check thru apple forum said that maybe due to firewall and third party antivirus. Set my firewall off and uninstall the micorsoft essential security.

Plug in my iphone and just click restore. Everything go smooth and now my iphone is running on IOS5.1.1. After that use the absinthe-win-2.0.4 to jailbreak it and successful.

    good for you bud!

it is always best to learn from self-experience

I was going to explain about the potential cause for that 2005 error you faced but since you already resolved it, no need to

    have fun!

I had Siriport in my iPhone 4. It worked great at first, but then the developer had a crash and lost his server. He put up a new certificate and that new certificate caused Safari to keep crashing - Safari and the Mail app too. It is too bad it started doing that, cos when it worked, it worked - Even though there was a huge time lag between me and russia.

I have a maybe stupid question - I don;t need to save any blobs, I just want to up my JB'd 5.0.1 to 6.1 and re-jailbreak. So, I hit "RESTORE" and not "Upgrade" in iTunes? I'll put my apps back in manually.

I've tried everything listed and I keep getting error 1600 0r 1602. Can anyone give me advice please. I've been at this for three days now and I'm ready to throw this phone against the wall!!!

And I forgot to mention my 3GS is a new boot

I used redsn0w to stitch 5.1.1 firmware I had the blob for. I then opened TU and started the TSS server. The phone was in pwned dfu mode. I started the restore and iTunes would go thru the process but would then send me the error 1600

You dont need to run the TSS server or TU, this purpose was only served on iOS 3/4

once you have created the stitched 5.1.1 firmware, you need to open up the "HOSTS" file located here:

C drive (may be different on your computer) -> Windows -> System32 -> drivers -> etc

in the ETC folder, you need to open up the HOSTS file using NOTEPAD, then you need to add the following entry at the "END" of the file (on an empty space):
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

Once you done that, and you verified that the phone is in PWNED DFU mode, then open itunes, hold the SHIFT key, click the RESTORE button, and point it to the custom firmware created by redsn0w

iTunes should begin the restore process
