Default Iphone 3G Jailbreak and Unlock Help

Hey guys, I came here due to the common belief that you guys know what you're doing and are very willingly helpful.

So I currently have an iphone 3G, 4.0.1 with a baseband of 5.13.04. I've noticed that over the past 5 months of usage, my phone has been incredibly slow and my friend told me the only way to fix it is to upgrade it.

I need it to be unlocked and jailbroken. if anyone has a tutorial or help, may you please help me? thanks!!!

You want to preserve your baseband, so you must restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1
Download the 4.2.1 firmware from iclarified firmware google search.
Download Snowbreeze 2.2.1 , run it and create a custom firmware of 4.2.1 which will be placed on your desktop.
Download Redsn0w RC8, browse to stock 4.2.1 fw, only choose option put iphone into pwned dfu mode.
Once your iphone is in DFU mode, run itunes : press shift key + restore to Snowbreeze_4.2.1.ipsw
Once restored , you are jailbroken.
Go to Cydia and install Ultrasn0w to unlock.

iYeow don't you think downgrading a 3G to 3.1.3 is much better then running it at 4.2.1 :-)

Yes, 3.1.3 is for speed and performance but the op wants to upgrade for some reason . Disabling multitask and some other features will improve performance

For the 3G 3.x was the end of the line basically. 4.x added far to much for the 3G to handle. Many people advise 3G users to just stay in the 3.x range because of the massive lag 4.x puts on it.
