3GS JB / Unlocked 3.1.3 Stuck in Recovery Mode - Help Please
Hi
I have an iPhone 3GS that has been JB and Unlocked on 3.1.3 for quite some time (probably a year or more). If I recall correctly it is the old boot rom. The phone began intermittently rebooting at various times. Before I could rebuild, the phone entered recovery mode and I cannot seem to get it to boot normally.
I have tried to use TU to exit recovery mode but to no avail.
I know I have SHSH blobs saved but I cant check to see what versions have been saved on Cydia since it is in recovery mode.
Any assistance is exiting recovery mode without impacting my ability to JB / Unlock.
To save your shsh blob without a bootable device or have not used TU to save this idevice , do the followings below :
You have to retrieve your ECID :
Put your iphone into recovery mode , yours is already in recovery mode so you need have to do this.
Now Click Start and type Device Manager
Scroll to Universal Bus Controller
Highlight Apple Mobile Device USB
Right click properties
Scroll to Device Instance Path
Move the bottom cursor to the right
You will see your 16 digits ECID
Copy that and paste onto the ECID section of TU
Make sure in TU : request shsh from Apple or uncheck > request shsh from cydia.
Click Save shsh.
It looks like I have the following SHSH blobs saved: 4.0 / 4.0.1 / 4.0.2 / 4.1 / 4.2.1 / 4.3 / 4.3.4
Iphone 3GS
Old Boot Rom
3.1.3 (7E18) but stuck in recovery mode
5.12.01
Previous JB with jailbreakme.com
Ultrasnow unlock
I will need to restore , jailbreak and unlock.
What would the recommended upgrade path be?
What is the best process / tools to restore, jailbreak, and unlock?
Is there anyway to preserve the existing BB?
Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Yes , you can preserve your unlock able by restoring to custom firmware
Anyway, you want to create a custom firmware of 4.3.3 from snowbreeze 2.7.3
Start tss server in TU, you need to put your iPhone into owned dfu mode , you can use the pwn dfu from snowbreeze but I find it easier to use redsnow to only put iPhone into dfu mode.
Once in dfu mode , run iTunes : shift + restore to custom firmware of 4.3.3 you just built.
Upgrade to 4.2.1 using custom firmware
Download Snowbreeze 2.2.1 and download the stock 4.2.1 ipsw
Create a custom fw of 4.2.1 from Snowbreeze
Download Redsn0w RC 8 , run it in xp2 compatibility mode
Run redsn0w, browse to stock 4.2.1, choose only option : Pwned dfu mode only ( i believe it is the last option in redsn0w )
Once in pwned dfu mode
Run itunes : shift + restore to Custom firmware of 4.2.1
