I just cant get mine to go...
I've tried pwn'd DFU mode (no go) Nothing seems to work. Error 1 when it starts "restoring firmware"

Do you have SHSHs for 4.3.3? If you don't, you're not going to be able to restore to 4.3.3. Get TinyUmbrella, you'll use that to see if you have 4.3.3 blobs and if you do, you use the TSS server within TU so that you can restore to 4.3.3.

It will work if you have 4.3.3 shsh blob, without it , then NO.

Clicking Save SHSHs isn't just saving your SHSHs, it's pulling in the SHSHs you have saved from Cydia to TU.

If/when you find that you do have 4.3.3 SHSHs, go ahead and start the TSS Server. Then open iTunes and go ahead with your shift+restore to 4.3.3.

Same problem

Error 1 when it gets to "restoring firmware"
The shsh fetch worked just great though! Thanks for that. I didn't realize that TU grabbed ALL available shsh blobs from Cydia

So you did get the SHSHs pulled into TU then? But you're still getting an error when downgrading?

Yep

4.3.3 shsh fetch from Cydia went fine. Ran TSS server and still got the same error.
Error 1
Only thing I can think of is that it was previously JB on 4.3.3 via Jailbreakme.com
Wonder if that has anything to do with it...

According to iPhone Wiki
Error 1
Unable to downgrade. Try changing the USB port (the back one of chassis is better) and restart computer.
The installed version of iTunes may also be too old. Update iTunes.
And according to this guide for error 1:

+1. Also what you can try and do is this:
Run TinyUmbrella again and go to “Advanced” tab and turn off/uncheck the “Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit”. It should modify the host file and allow iTunes to restore.

I'll give it a shot. But I'm using my Hackintosh with iTunes beta 4. It's not iTunes version for sure....
I have not tried a diff USB port however.
Check. That has been done already...
This should be working, grrrrrr
EDIT: It just won't downgrade. USB port swap and reboot. No go

Try modifying the host script file.
Navigate to C: \Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and locate “hosts” file.
Open it Notepad or any text editor and delete the bottom line.
Uncheck "set hosts to cydia on exit" in Tiny Umbrella.
If that doesn't work then try adding this line at the bottom: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com.
As long as the host file is pointing to Apple, The tss server and iTunes should allow you to restore. If that doesn't work, try usual stuff, different USB cable, USB port and/or disable any security programs. Next option is to do the same on another computer. If it all fails, could be a hardware issue and you will need to make an appointment with a genius guy at Apple.

I already tried all that. The genius appointment isn't going to help me either, because I can't exactly take a phone to the Apple store running iOS 5.
It's all good. I'll just run iOS 5 on it and wait for everything to catch up to it.
My issues with iOS 5 was severe battery drain really. But after restoring to iOS 5 several times, I've noticed that right after the restore, it's Bluetooth is running with no icon.
So if you seem to be having serious battery drain issues on iOS 5, go to settings and see if the Bluetooth is off. Unless you need it of course!iPhone 4S iOS 5.0 Non JB

Finally,
after about 2 hours of tinkering, I was able to successfully downgrade from iOS 5 beta 4 to 4.3.3. It does require using Tiny Umbrella's local TSS Server and your SHSH for 4.3.3. Although other steps may/may not be taken to make this work, this is how I did it:
1. Open Tiny Umbrella, set host to cydia and close out.
2. Open TU again and start TSS server.
3. Put device in DFU mode. (Power button for 3 seconds, power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release power button, but continue holding the home button until iTunes pops up saying there is a device in recovery mode). Even though it says recovery mode, this puts it in DFU mode.
4. Proceed to restore by alt/option + click restore and pointing to 4.3.3 IPSW.
5. This is where I got Error 1 in iTunes. This put my device in recovery mode (iTunes and USB symbol). I then opened Tiny Umbrella, selected my device, and selected to "Exit Recovery".
6. This put it back in recovery mode again. Then I opened redsn0w, performed jailbreak, installed Cydia, installed boot animations, and installed multitasking gestures. Keep in mind that I went straight from recovery mode to DFU mode.
7. This brought me to an infinite recovery loop which I used TU to exit recovery for the final time.
8. After the reboot, i was up and running. Everything so far seems to work as usual, except in the settings, it says that my Carrier is "Not Available", but I am still able to make calls, access net, send sms, etc...

Ahhhhh you did help me in some way here I think.
I see what did not happen, and that's the baseband. Other betas would let BB downgrade.
I wonder if I make a custom 4.3.3. ipsw it'll go through...
Apple must have read my previous posts. Lol
Baseband downgrade on beta's
Indeed it was the baseband causing the issue.
iOS 5 beta 4 ~ 4.3.3 SOLVED
Create custom 4.3.3 ipsw with snowbreeze
Run TSS server in TU (make sure "request shsh from cydia" is NOT checked)
Put phone in pwn'd DFU mode
Shift + click restore as normal
Network is recognized. So you might want to do it one more time following these steps. Thanks for the help!
